away or given to a beggar
half eaten, people.

who say you
you are their friend. They care.
people who said they cared
about your wellbeing. About the wellbeing
of the world.

People who with their Facebook posts
and IG tags, say they stand for something
so many people, those people
who get carmel lattes and say to the
barista, you shouldn't work here- you should make
40 dollars an hour like me. Be unhappy like me. 100k a year
doing coding with a English degree. I wanted to be a poet.
I know you're a poet but you're here making 10 dollars an hour.

people, people telling you how to rethink
your life. people who say they listen who act as if they listen
but who just want someone to listen to them.
to care about them. to stand up for them. people
so many people. so many that they topple over each other.
saying to trust them but show no actions worth trusting.
people, are they my people or your people or
their people?
